Students from Years 9 and 10 recently took part in the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge, a nationally recognised competition designed to stretch students beyond the standard curriculum and encourage deeper mathematical thinking.
The challenge focuses on problem solving, logical reasoning and applying mathematical knowledge in unfamiliar contexts. Rather than testing rote learning, students are required to think creatively, make connections and work through multi-step problems with confidence and resilience.
A number of students achieved Silver and Bronze awards, reflecting both strong engagement and a high level of mathematical understanding. These results highlight the commitment of students to challenge themselves and the emphasis placed on developing confident, independent thinkers.
Participation in competitions such as the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge supports students in building skills that are essential not only for future study in maths and related subjects, but also for success across a wide range of academic and career pathways.
Congratulations to all students who took part in the challenge.
