A group of Year 8 and Year 9 girls had the exciting opportunity to visit the Databricks London office for a Cyber Girls First workshop last week. The day was filled with hands-on learning, problem-solving, and inspiring stories from women working in the tech industry.

During the visit, students heard eye-opening talks about real-world hacking dangers and the importance of staying safe online. These sessions helped them understand how cybercrime affects people across the world and why cybersecurity is becoming one of the most important fields of the future.

Students also took part in engaging puzzles and challenges designed to encourage logical thinking and teamwork. Many said these activities helped them see how fun and creative technology can be.
One of the most powerful parts of the day was hearing directly from women in tech. They shared personal stories about how they entered the industry, the challenges they overcame, and what they love most about their careers. Their experiences showed the girls that a future in technology is not only possible, but exciting and full of opportunity.
At SBUA, we are committed to providing meaningful opportunities that broaden horizons and inspire young people to explore new pathways. Workshops like Cyber Girls First help students gain confidence, develop new skills, and imagine themselves as the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers.
