Year 6 Transition

Welcome to all Year 6 pupils and their parents!

Congratulations on being offered a place at South Bank University Academy! We hope this marks the beginning of a journey we will make together through your secondary education.

Making the transition from Primary to Secondary School can be an anxious time for students and parents. We have created a programme to help you and your child make a smooth transition which includes opportunities to visit the school and meet with staff on several occasions before September. We also offer a Summer School which all of our incoming Year 7s are invited to, this is run by school staff so that students build familiarity with each other and their teachers.

All documents that are sent out to parents can be found below, as well as contact details for Ms Dalton who heads up the transition programme. Please do contact Ms Dalton if you have any queries or concerns regarding your child’s transition.

Frequently Asked Questions

We share news of what is going on in school in a half termly newsletter, Mr Taylor (Principal) also creates video newsletters to share highlights of the half term with parents. The school also has a Twitter and Instagram account which is regularly updated.

How will you support my child in their learning? As well as ensuring that the work set in lessons provides an appropriate challenge for your child, we give every child in the school a Chromebook when they start with us. This removes any barriers to completing homework, encourages them to be responsible and helps them organise themselves as we teach them to use a calendar for deadlines.
