SBUA students, parents and staff gathered at London South Bank University last week for our Student of the Year awards ceremony. The evening was hosted by our Chair of Governors, Ruth Spellman OBE, and we were delighted to be joined by students from SBU Sixth Form, who are also part of the SBA Trust.

Subject awards were presented to 30 students from across the two schools, a recognition for the outstanding student in each class.

Employer representatives Zac Yiallouros of the Bank of England and Jo Young of Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust then presented ‘Skills Awards’ to students who have shown excellence in Communication, Teamwork, Problem Solving and other key transferable skills – a valuable part of our curriculum across all subjects. The SBUA winner was Joseph Akinsola. His teacher's nomination included: "Joseph demonstrated strong teamwork through collaborative projects, after-school activities, and work experience. As a school prefect, he has embraced leadership, consistently guiding and supporting fellow students while actively contributing ideas and leading by example. Equally impressive is his capacity for empathy—shown in mentoring younger students across different year groups and taking time to understand and support a wide range of perspectives."

Congratulations to Joseph and all the winners! A list of the winners from SBUA is below:
