Transitioning from sixth form to university can feel like a big step—but for SBUA alumnus Daniel Caseria, it felt like a natural progression.

Now studying Physiotherapy at London South Bank University, Daniel reflects on how his experience at South Bank University Academy helped him build confidence, independence, and the academic discipline needed to succeed at degree level.

“Starting at SBUA… and now being here at LSBU… it just feels like the right path for me.”

When choosing his course, Daniel was drawn to Physiotherapy for its balance of academic study and clinical, hands-on experience. LSBU’s location and practical learning opportunities also played an important role in his decision.

Having already engaged with LSBU during his time at SBUA, the university environment itself felt familiar when he arrived—helping him settle in with confidence from the beginning.

Like many students, Daniel admits he had some nerves about meeting new people and adjusting to university life. However, structured activities and early student experiences helped him integrate quickly and feel comfortable in his new environment.

What stood out most was how quickly those initial concerns faded once he got involved in university life.

A key takeaway from Daniel’s experience is the importance of preparation before university.

During his time at SBUA, he developed strong organisational habits and coursework discipline—skills that have become essential in managing the increased independence of university study.

At degree level, where students are expected to take greater ownership of their learning, this foundation has proven especially valuable.

Daniel’s current studies combine practical sessions, lectures, and student-led learning. This mix allows him to build both theoretical understanding and hands-on clinical experience.

Outside of academics, he has also embraced university life more broadly, taking advantage of sport and extracurricular opportunities that help balance his studies.

One of the biggest changes Daniel highlights is the shift toward independence.

While university offers more freedom, it also requires greater personal responsibility—something he has gradually adapted to as he’s progressed through his course.
