Today marks an important moment for the SBUA Class of 2026 as students celebrate their results and the progress they have made throughout their educational journey.

Results Day is a chance to recognise more than grades. It is a moment to celebrate the commitment, resilience and determination that students have shown throughout their studies, while looking ahead to the opportunities that come next.

This year, SBUA is celebrating its best-ever vocational results, with students achieving strong outcomes across a range of subjects.

Across vocational qualifications:

• 35% of students achieved DDD or above

• 77% of students achieved MMM or above

There were particularly strong outcomes in Digital Media, where 57% of students achieved DDD or above and 100% achieved MMM or above. On average, Digital Media students achieved three grades higher than expected, demonstrating significant progress against their expected attainment.

Business students also performed strongly, achieving an average of one full grade higher than expected.

Strong A Level outcomes were also achieved in Design & Technology, with 50% of students achieving A or A grades*. In Mathematics, 40% of students achieved A or A grades*.

Exceptional individual achievements

Among the individual successes this year, Favour, a Digital Media student, achieved an outstanding D*D*D*, known as a Triple Distinction Star.*

For Favour, the result was particularly meaningful because it was exactly what she had hoped for when she began Year 12.

“These were the grades I wanted from the very first day I started Year 12, so I’m really proud to have achieved them. Twenty One Pilots was also a big influence on me and my creativity.”

Her Digital Media studies were a particular highlight, and she credits the support of her teacher with helping her achieve her results.

“I felt really supported by my Media teacher. She helped me so much throughout the course and really pushed me to achieve these grades.”

Favour will now continue her creative journey at UAL, taking the next step towards her future studies and career.

Her advice to younger students is simple:

“Just keep working hard.”

A journey of progress and determination

Results Day is also a chance to recognise the progress students have made from their starting points.

Hanan achieved DMM in Digital Media, exceeding her target grades. Her reaction to receiving her results was immediate:

“I’m so happy! I worked really hard for these results, so it feels amazing to see it pay off.”

Hanan will now continue her studies at London South Bank University (LSBU), part of the wider LSBU Group, taking her next step in education.

Her brother, Abdullahi, achieved DMM in Digital Media, also exceeding his target grades.

The siblings joined SBUA in Year 9 with limited to no English. Since then, they have worked hard to develop their English language skills, build confidence and make sustained progress throughout their education.

Reflecting on how far he has come, Abdullahi said:

“When I joined SBUA, I could barely speak or understand English. I’m really proud of what I’ve achieved in the time I’ve had.”

His results are a powerful example of the progress that can be achieved through determination, resilience and hard work.

Together, Hanan and Abdullahi's results represent not only strong vocational attainment, but a remarkable educational journey.

Celebrating progress and different pathways

At SBUA, students follow a range of academic and vocational pathways, reflecting their individual strengths, interests and aspirations.

Results Day provides an opportunity to recognise every student's starting point and the progress they have made. For some, today's results will lead to university. For others, the next step may be an apprenticeship, employment, further education or another form of training.

The strong vocational outcomes this year highlight the value of providing students with opportunities to develop practical, creative and industry-relevant skills alongside their academic education.

The results in Digital Media and Business, alongside the strong A Level outcomes in Design & Technology and Mathematics, demonstrate the breadth of achievement across the sixth form.
