Students from South Bank University Academy recently took part in a robotics competition hosted by King's College London, giving them the opportunity to explore engineering and technology in a practical and engaging way.

Throughout the day, students worked in teams to design, programme and test robotic solutions to a range of challenges. The tasks encouraged them to think carefully, test ideas, and make improvements as they went, helping them to build confidence in applying their knowledge beyond the classroom.

The competition also introduced students to key concepts such as coding and problem-solving, while developing important skills including teamwork, communication and resilience. Being in a university environment added another layer to the experience, helping students to begin thinking about future pathways and where their interests could take them.

Opportunities like this are an important part of how SBUA supports students to connect their learning to the wider world. By taking part in events that bring together education and industry, students are able to broaden their understanding of different career routes and build the confidence to explore them further.

Students represented SBUA with enthusiasm and maturity throughout the day, making the most of the experience and demonstrating a positive approach to learning and challenge.
