A new Chess Club has officially launched in Sixth Form, bringing together strategy, competition and a shared love of the game.
Set up by students Erfan and Becklins, the club kicked off last week with a fast-paced tournament session. Players rotated across boards, taking on new opponents each round in a mix of focused matches and friendly rivalry. Whether experienced or just starting out, everyone found a way to get involved.

Running every Thursday, the club is quickly becoming a space to switch off from studies while sharpening thinking skills at the same time. It is not just about winning games, but about learning, improving and enjoying the challenge.

What stands out most is that this is something built by students, for students. It reflects the kind of sixth form experience on offer, where ideas are encouraged and interests can turn into something real.
For those thinking about next steps after Year 11, it is a reminder that sixth form is not only about academic study, but also about finding your space, meeting like-minded people and making the most of opportunities beyond the classroom.
