Year 10 students recently welcomed Bryan, Chief Marketing Officer at Ozone, for an engaging careers workshop exploring the world of marketing and the skills needed to build a successful career.
Drawing on his own professional journey, Bryan shared how his career has evolved, the experiences that have shaped him and the opportunities available within the marketing industry. Students gained valuable insight into what it is like to work in a senior leadership role, while learning that career paths are rarely linear and are often shaped by embracing new opportunities and experiences.
A key focus of the session was personal branding and the importance of learning how to market yourself. Bryan encouraged students to think about how they present their strengths, communicate their skills and build confidence, highlighting how these qualities can help them stand out when applying for further education, apprenticeships and future employment.
The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students asked thoughtful questions about Bryan's career, the challenges he has faced and the advice he would give to his younger self. His honest reflections encouraged students to remain curious, stay open to opportunities and recognise that success often comes from continuous learning and personal growth.
One Year 10 student reflected on the session, saying:
"It was a very interesting session. Usually I find it hard to focus for a long time, but I did during this session. Bryan taught us where they started from and where they are now. My main takeaway was that we are not limited to any job but can be anything we desire."
Experiences like this form an important part of SBUA's Future Pathways Programme, giving students the opportunity to hear directly from industry professionals and helping them make informed decisions about their future pathways.
We would like to thank Bryan and Ozone for generously sharing their time, experience and expertise with our students. Their insights have inspired students to think more confidently about their future careers and the opportunities available to them.
