What are T Levels?
T Levels are two-year technical qualifications taken after GCSEs, designed in partnership with employers and industry leaders to give you the skills and experience needed for work or further study. One T Level is equivalent to three A-Levels and carries UCAS tariff points that universities recognise.
They combine classroom learning with real-world experience. You’ll spend around:
-
80% of your time in lessons developing knowledge, skills and theory
-
20% on a meaningful industry placement with an employer relevant to your course (a minimum of around 45 days)
These placements build workplace confidence, help you learn practical skills, and give you professional contacts before you graduate.
Why Choose a T Level?
T Levels are perfect if you want:
✔ A career-focused qualification that prepares you for work or higher study
✔ Practical experience with real employers
✔ A strong alternative to full academic A-Levels
✔ A stepping stone to university, apprenticeships or skilled employment
Unlike apprenticeships, T Levels are mainly school-based with a structured work placement — so you get both classroom support and workplace experience.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Are T Levels harder than A Levels?
They are different. T Levels are technical and vocational, with a strong focus on hands-on learning and industry placements. A Levels are more academic and exam-based.
-
Can I go to university after a T Level?
Yes. Many universities accept T Levels for entry onto relevant degree courses, as long as you meet the course entry requirements.
-
Do I get paid for the placement?
Most industry placements are unpaid. However, they provide valuable real-world experience that employers look for and can significantly strengthen your CV.
-
What support is there for placements?
We work closely with employers and support students in finding placements that align with their course and career interests.
-
Can I switch from a T Level to A Levels if I change my mind?
T Levels are specialised programmes, so switching is not always straightforward. We encourage students to speak with teachers, careers advisers and parents before choosing a pathway to ensure it is the right fit.
-
How are T Levels assessed?
Assessment includes a combination of exams, coursework, employer-set projects and practical assessments, as well as completion of the industry placement.
